The library trustees received from Hosea Kingman, Esq., April 29, 1893, a check for $670.97, that sum being a bequest under the will of the late Cornelia Alger, and was paid by him as executor. Mrs. Julia A. Drury, who was entitled to a life interest in this sum, very kindly waived the same, and directed that it be paid to the library at once.
The library trustees gratefully acknowledge this character- istic generosity on the part of Mrs. Drury. The amount has been deposited in the East Bridgewater Savings Bank by the trustees.
The financial standing of the library was last reported in the annual report for 1887, by which it appears that the amount due the library from the town, was on Jan. 31, 1887 :-
