Report of Board of Health
HAMILTON, 1919
Citizens of the Town of Hamilton:
The following communicable diseases were reported to this department throughout the year :
4 Diphtheria 4 Scarlet Fever 4 Measles
I Pulmonary Tuberculosis 3 Mumps
These, a comparative few, show an improvement in the health of the community this year. Also no infection was re- ported from the above diseases, which reflects credit to the phy- sicians handling the cases.
This department has cooperated with the physicians in every way possible by promptly isolating contagious cases and care- fully fumigating when notified.
This department instituted a collection of rubbish in the South Hamilton district, the first Monday of each month, which is recognized by the State Department of Health as a health benefit to any community. And from the generous use of this service we believe the citizens appreciate the convenience.
We receive from time to time much valuable information from the State Department of Health, which we strictly observe as it applies to this town.
The expenses of this department will be found in the fi- nancial section of this book.
Respectfully, AVON D. BRADEEN, ARTHUR C. CUMMINGS, CHESTER A. FOSTER, Board of Health.

Report of Fire Engineers
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen,
Gentlemen: We wish to submit the fifth annual report of the Board of Engineers of the Fire Department for the year ending Dec. 31, 1919. During the year 1919, the company responded to fifteen (15) cal's, a smaller percentage than two years previous, showing that the citizens are using more care in regard to fires, and also helping the Fire Department as much as possible. We were fortunate enough in not having any large or serious fires,- mostly grass and chimneys. At a meeting held at the Engine House, Nov. 10, 1919, composed of the Engineers and Firemen, the matter of a new Engine House was brought up for discus- sion. The members present, including the Engineers, voted to see what action the Town would take at the Annual Town Meet- ing in erecting a new fire house, as the Town had bought the land where the old one now stands.

The board recommends that in case of a fire to follow care- fully the instructions on the red card given to every installed telephone, with directions what to do in case of fire, as a delay may mean a loss of time, and a fire gaining a headway too great to overcome.
Cards may be obtained from the Chief of the Fire Depart- ment.
The board also recommends that due care should be used in burning rubbish and grass in the spring; also to see that the fire is extinguished before leaving it.
Thanking every one who has assisted the department in the past year, we beg to remain,
Respectfully, GEORGE F. PENDEXTER, ERLE G. BREMER, LESTER M. WHIPPLE, RODNEY H. ADAMS, FRANK DANE,

PROGRAM
Band Concert Sports
Presentation of Medals Banquet
Entertainment Dance
Owing to the inclemency of the weather the band concert and sports were postponed to Sept. 6, when they were held on the Polo Field of the Myopia Hunt Club.
Suitable bronze medals were presented to the service men by the Board of Selectmen and a reception accorded to them by the entire Welcome Home Committee. Silver medals of a like design were later presented in private to the nearest kin of those who made the supreme sacrifice.
While the banquet tables were being arranged a line was formed and everyone shook hands with Major-General Clarence R. Edwards, who commanded the heroic 26th Division.
A sumptuous banquet was opened with prayer by Rev. Frank H. Luce. After the repast was enjoyed the following speakers were heard :
Major-General Clarence R. Edwards Congressman W. W. Lufkin Rev. William H. Ryder Sergeant Wilson

Report of Cemetery Commissioners
In making our report this year, we have to say that the ap- propriation of five hundred dollars ($500) has been hardly sufficient to meet the real need of work to be done in the cem- etery. The larger part of it has been expended for labor and material on avenues.
