HAMILTON TOWN REPORT
REPORT OF THE INSTRUCTOR IN MANUAL ARTS
To the Superintendent of Schools,
I hereby submit for your approval my third annual report of the work in the Industrial Arts Department.
In the woodworking classes I have tried as far as possible to get away from the prescribed course plan and give the boys a certain amount of freedom in choosing the project on which they are to work. This, as may be expected, is not possible in the beginners stage to as great an extent as is the case with more advanced students.
I should like to call your attention to the attitude of the boys in regard to paying for their finished projects. Most of the boys feel that they should not be charged for the waste lumber resulting from having to do. work over. If the parents would use their influence to impress upon the pupils that they are very fortunate to have this department in their school and also that the expense of maintaining this department makes the present charges necessary, the attitude of the boys would change very much for the better, because perhaps then they would understand the reason for the charges they now pay.
In the printing classes all of the students have completed at least one job. The work is perhaps slower this year, but I feel that it is much more thorough.
I thank you very much for your helpful attitude toward this department.
Respectfully submitted,
AFTON F. BEZANSON.
