REPORT OF THE PARK COMMISSIONERS

To the Citizens of the Town of Hamilton:

The Board of Park Commissioners herewith submit their report for the year ending December 31, 1940.

In addition to the usual maintenance work at Cutler Park, Chebacco Park and Memorial Green, it was necessary to do considerable work at the Dorothy Winthrop Memorial Lot due to demands for its use as a baseball field. An additional $100.00 was appropriated for this work; we were able to pur- chase lumber for seats and keep the grass cut during the base- ball season.

During the coming year there should be a fence erected along the driveway at Chebacco Park to replace what is left of the one erected many years ago, a back-stop should be erected at the Dorothy Winthrop Memorial Lot and the ball field put in a better condition.

We wish to express our appreciation to Chief Frederick, the members of the Salmagundi Baseball Team and other in- terested persons who greatly assisted in improving the Dorothy Winthrop Memorial Lot. We were again fortunate in obtain- ing the services of Mr. Loring Cook as Superintendent of the Parks, and we express our thanks and appreciation to him for his services and the interest he has shown, and thank all other persons who have assisted us during the past year.

Respectfully submitted,

RAYMOND H. STONE FREDERICK P. GOODHUE HENRY RAUCH

REPORT OF THE CEMETERY COMMISSIONERS

To the Citizens of the Town of Hamilton:

GREETINGS : The Cemetery Commissioners submit herewith their report for the year ending December 31, 1940.

Through the splendid cooperation of the Selectmen in extending to this department the use of the men of the unemployed depart- ment it has made it possible for us to purchase a power mower. This piece of equipment has made it possible for the Superin- tendent to reduce his mowing time 50 per cent.

We also excavated Central Avenue approximately 500 feet where it passes through the old section and refilled with gravel, thus eliminating a muddy condition which existed in the spring of the year. The soil which was taken from this project was used as fill in grading a new section of lots for the future.

We wish to take this opportunity to thank the Surveyor of Highways for his cooperation in keeping the avenues plowed during the winter months.

Also we wish to thank all other Town Officials and citizens for their splendid cooperation during the past year.

Respectfully submitted,

LAWRENCE C. FOSTER RAYMOND A. WHIPPLE LAWRENCE LAMSON
