The Board recommends that $5,640 be raised and appro- priated for hydrant rental, that $300 be raised and appro-
231
priated for water for drinking fountains, and that $500 be raised and appropriated for water for street sprinkling.
The interest payable the current year amounts to $7,060, as follows :
$173,000 bonds for 12 months $6,920
$7,000 bonds for six months 140
$7,060
After due consideration, the Board deemed it wise to raise the rates to takers and even at the raise we are very much under the rates made by towns giving like service.
Your attention was called last year to the possibility of having to renew the settling basins during the year, but from the present outlook it may not be necessary to replace them for a year or two.

SERVICE PIPES
We have put in fifty-five and discontinued two service pipes during the year, making fifteen hundred and five in the system.
Five service leaks have been repaired, two caused by electrolytic action.
During the severe cold weather in January and February a number of services were frozen. A few of those in exposed localities have been lowered so it is hoped there will be no further trouble from that source.
242
STAND PIPE
The stand pipe should be painted as soon as the weather will permit.
PUMPING STATION
The pumping station buildings are in good repair, except the roof of the house. This needs shingling.
