The road in Washington will be made by the Town of Washington by the first day of July next and when made & accepted the expenses will be apportioned as shall be just & reasonable.


The owners of wood and Timber will have till the first day of April 1847 to remove the same.


The towns will not break ground until the right to a Jury to change the location shall have passed.


The Commissioners now order that the road be made as follows; The traveled path to be made upon the center or line of Survey except on side hills when the path shall be thrown down on the lower side of that line until those places are passed. The path to be sixteen feet wide exclusive of ditches, crowned on the center on level ground fourteen inches & on steep side hill the outer side of the road to be raised by a wall of Wharping at least six inches above the inner side and sufficient to throw back all water to the ditches.

And good substantial stone sluices put down on all portions of the road at such distances as will pass off all water under the path. All stones, stumps and other obstructons to be wholly removed from the path and ditches, the surface of the ground to be cut or filled to bring the road path to a plain or inclined, good substantial bridges to be con- structed across the stream at all places where crossed except at the point where the path touches the Bushnell land, at this place the road path will be made upon the bed of the stream & the stream turned on the northerly side of


the path. In constructing the road at this point, and at the steep bank below, on Mr. Peck's land, great care must be observed, and an open sluice made at the latter place to pass the water collecting on the southerly side of the path into the stream on the other side, the whole to be made to the acceptance of commissioners

Beginning at a Beach tree marked & supposed to be on the south line of the new County road from Lee to Becket, thence south 72º West 10 rods to a spruce tree marked in the town line between said Becket & Washington then west 2º south on said town line 322 rods to the northwest corner of Becket, thence south 8 west on said town line between Becket and Washington as aforesaid 122 rods to a Beach tree marked, thence south 58º west 30 rods to a small spruce by an old root thence south 42º west 51 rods to a hemlock marked by an old wood road, thence south 29º west 24 rods to a hemlock over the brook, thence south 8º west 7 rods, thence south 18° east 68 rods thence south 30° east 32 rods to a Birch marked west of the sawmill


The above road is laid three rods wide and the above line as run is the left hand line as it is run in a Westerly and Southerly direction.

Notice is hereby given trat the subscribers, Selectmen of Washington have laid out and surveyed a road or town way on two several routs across the land of Philip Eames Esq. & Daniel Sibley, the first route commencing at a stake & stones on the highway south of the depot & north of Daniel Sibley's dwelling house running south 26° west 8 rods, thence south 35go west 23 rods, both 31 rods on Daniel Sibley's land south 3540 west 36 rods on the land of Esq. Eames to the other road at the foot of the hill west of Collin's house. Second route beginning at or near the other termini running north 52º east 31 rods on land of Philip Dames, same course 20 rods North 25° East 9 rods, both 29 rods on land of Daniel Sibley the last termini at a stake & stones on the highway east of said Sibley's house. The above survey is to be deemed the centre of the road on each route and the said road is laid out two & half rods wide

This Indenture made this twenty fourth Day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two. Witnesseth that John Holmes of the Town of Washington, county of Berkshire, State of Massachusetts, Doth hereby lease, demise and let unto John S. Noble of the aforesaid town, county and state, a certain lot of land now in the possession of said Holmes formerly owned by John Lankton supposed to be Fifty Acres. Also a lot of five acres on which said Holmes resides - to hold for the Tem of one year from the 24th day of July afore said yielding and paying the rent of thirty five dollars paid to him in hand by said Noble before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt thereof the said Holmes doth acknowl - edge.

Commencing at a stake and stones on the south side of the highway leading from Philip Eames to the Rail road bridge near said Eames' limekiln thence running south 350 west thirteen rods 16 links to a stake, thence south 41 west 34 rods to a stake, thence saith 200 west 12 rods 7 links to a stake, thence soith 310 west 19 rods 15 links to a stone wall on the north side of the highway leading from said Eames to Dunavan's mills intersecting said high- way at a point one and a half rods from the northwest corner of Asahel P. Higgins's land being laid wholly on said Eames's land, the road is laid

commencing at a small pile of stones on lands of Daniel Sibley two rods southwesterly of the Railroad ditch and one rod and 19 links from the southwestern corner post of the fence as it now stands, built by the Rail Road Corporation around their grounds at the Washington Depot. - Thence running south 252º west 34 rods on lands of Daniel Sibley to a small birch tree in the line fence between the lands of said Sibley and Philip Eames Esq. thence on said Eames land south 27° West 16 rods to a small pile of stones on the north side of the highway leading from said Eames to the Rail Road bridge the Road is laid three rods wide and the survey taken in the center
