Druid Hill Park-Northwestern section. Ac- reage, 700.

Patterson Park-Eastern section, overlook- ing the harbor. Of historic interest as con- taining the original earthworks thrown up in 1814 by citizen volunteers, when the city was threatened by the British forces under General Root during the bombardment of Fort Mc- Henry.

Wyman's Park-North Baltimore, adjoining site of Johns Hopkins University. Federal Hill Park-Overlooking the harbor. Site of the Marine Observatory.

Gwynn Falls Park-Western suburbs.

Riverside Park-Overlooking Fort McHenry and the river as far north as North Point.

Harlem Park-Located in a pleasant resi- dence section of Northwest Baltimore, bound- ed by Gilmor and Calhoun streets, Edmondson and Harlem avenues.

Carroll Park-Situated in the southwestern section. It has the old Carroll Mansion on a hill.

Clifton Park is in the northeastern suburbs. It was formerly the estate of Johns Hopkins, and was bequeathed by him to the Johns Hop- kins University, and intended for the location

of the University. The city afterwards ac- quired it. The country residence of Johns Hopkins still stands as the mansion house of the park.

Eutaw Place-The most beautiful residence section of the city, adorned with plots flowers, shrubbery and ornate fountains.

Washington and Mount Vernon Square -- Situated in the heart of the most conservative residence section of the city. They are adorn- ed with flowers, fountains and statuary, bronze pieces by barry and Dubois, and hero- ic statues of Chief Justice Roger Brook Taney and George Peabody.

Lafayette Square-North western section, faced by four prominent churches.

Franklin and Union Squares-Southwestern section.

Madison and Ashland Squares-Northeastern section, the latter the site of the Wells and McComas monument, and the Broadway Squares, extending from Baltimore street to North avenue.

St. Paul Boulevard-St. Paul street ex- tended. Broadway-The Beautiful parkway and popular boulevard of East Baltimore.
