PAGE'S IMPROVED PATENT CIRCULAR SAW-MILLS.
GEORGE PAGE & CO.
North Schroeder Street,
NEAR WEST BALTIMORE STREET,
BALTIMORE, MD.
Respectfully inform their friends and the public generally that they have greatly enlarged their manufacturing establishment, and have so increased their facilities as to enable them to execute all orders with promptness and in superior style of workmanship for their justly
CELEBRATED PATENT PORTABLE CIRCULAR SAW-MILLS
Which have given so much satisfaction throughout the Union, as also for their STEAM POWERS, of various kinds and sizes, both Stationary and Portable.
Their Engines are built with all the most superior modern improvements, and for their ex- cellence of arrangement and design, were awarded the highest premium, a gold medal, at the last annual exhibition of the Maryland Mechanics' Institute.
Among their PORTABLE ENGINES is one that was expressly gotten up for Plantation and Farm purposes, and is emphatically a Locomotive or Portable Engine. It is of 10 horse capacity, and for compactness, design and workmanship, efficiency, and case of travel, is un- equalled. The engine, boiler, smoke-stack, governor, and valve, are all mounted on a sub- stantial set of wooden wheels, with tongue attached, ready to hitch a team of horses to, by which it may be drawn to the woods as the power to saw lumber, to the field or barn to thresh out grain or rice, or for ginning cotton, grinding or chopping or crushing corn and cob, or for any other economic purpose on the plantation or farm requiring such power. The smoke-stack is so arranged as to be free from danger of fire, as no sparks are emitted. The governor and valve regulate speed with a degree of nicety never before attained. It can be drawn by four or six horses anywhere where a loaded wagon can be.
As also, for their GRIST MILLS, of various sizes ; HORSE POWERS, of different sizes ; one of the latter particularly suited to ginning cotton, and highly approved for such purposes in the South; besides many other labor-saving machines and implements of high celebrity.
Since the senior party invented and patented their Portable Circular Saw-mills they have made many valuable improvements, which render them perfect in all their details, and justly entitle them to be considered as among the first labor-saving machines of the age.
A pamphlet and cut containing full descriptions of their Saw-Mills, Engines, and numerous other machinery, prices, &c., will be sent to any gentleman applying for one by letter.
As they have obtained an extension of their patent, they hereby forewarn all persons from infringing the same.
No assignment of patent right will be legal unless signed by two of the partners.

MR. W. KNARE, Baltimore:
Deur Sir :- I have great pleasure in certifying that I have tried your Square Pianos, and find them equal, if not superior to any in this country. Among their great qualities, which distinguish them, is the evenness of tone, the agreeable and easy touch, and volume of tone. Wishing you all the success you so highly deserve,
I am, Sir, yours, very truly,
BALTIMORE, Dec. 23, 1856. S. THALBERG.
TO MESSRS. W.M. KNABE & Co., Baltimore,
Gentlemen :- Permit me to express to you herewith my sincere thanks for the superb Grand and Square Pianos which you have loaned me, and on which I have performed at my concerts. I cannot but congratulate you upon the im- mense progress and improvements you continually make on your Pianos, which, in my opinion, rank among the very best in this country.
With hearty wishes for your success and prosperity, which you richly deserve by your enterprise, energy and activity. I remain, yours, very truly, MAURICE STRAKOSCHI.

This Society has been in existence for the last 60 years with entire satisfaction to its members. INSURANCE is effected without a profit to stockholders, as each insurer is a member, who, in order to make the insurance, deposits a sum with the Society in proportion to the amount and risk, which deposit belongs to him, and upon which he pays his proportion of the actual expense of the Society, which is all the cost of the insurance, as upon the expiration of the policy the deposit is returnable to him should he wish to discontinue the insurance, with a dividend of 4 per cent. per annudi.
