PREFACE.
THE LEWISTON AND AUBURN DIRECTORY for 1893-4, No. 12 of the regular series, is offered to our patrons with no little confi- dence, as this year we have made changes which we hope will meet with general approval. Following the custom now almost universally adopted by the best compilers of similar works, we print the surname but once only (except in the case of advertisers), thereby, as we believe, greatly facilitating the use of the book.
We shall be pleased to receive suggestions, also, at any time, which will assist in making future editions still more valuable. We do not claim that there are no errors in the present volume, but we have conscientiously striven to reduce its imperfections to the minimum.
We append the usual syncpsis.
