Your petitioners beg leave to remonstrate that from the ex- pressions and reservations in the proprietors deed it is evident that the said tracts of land was intended for two townships and they were allways considered as such untill they were blended together in the matter of taxation that all the settlers have had the same held up to their view which they have considered as a valueable privilege : for if they are incorporated together it will by reason of ponds and bogs subject some of the settlers to more then eight miles travel to reach the center of the town- that the proprietors have ever considered them as such and have divided them and layed-out a publick right in each town what ever they may hold up to view in the matter of incorpora- tions .

Therefore that friendship and good order may pervade all our publick affairs and that the inhabitants of each plantation when incorporated may lay out and make roads and build houses for publick uses in those parts of the towns where they shall be most beneficial to the inhabitants in future-

- without being harafsed with a party spirit and to prevent any disputes arising in future as to the time and manner of a seper- ation Your petitioners in behalf of ourselves and our constitu- ants pray the Hon legislature to take this our petition with the papers that accompany it into their wise consideration and re- move their embarrassments by incorporating them into two distinct towns by the names of --- - By the boundaries sett forth in one of the aforesaid papers as in duty Bound your pe- titioners will ever pray-
