APPENDIX.

REMARKS.

In the following Roster I have taken all possible care to give correctly the military record of each member of the Regiment, and to give the same as nearly complete as it can be done from the data at my disposal. Miy authority is principally the Reports of the Adjutant General of Maine, from 1862 to 1865; though other papers, both official and private, have been used to some extent. While I cannot vouch that the Roster is free from errors I hope that it will be found prac- tically correct.

I take this opportunity to acknowledge my obligation for assistance to Capt. Edward HI. Wilson, formerly Adjutant of the Regiment; also to Col. Nelson Howard, and to Comrade Watson R. Gribbin, the present President and Secretary of the Regimental Association .-- The Action.
