He was a genial and public-spirited man, and was active in all movements for the welfare of the community. He was the last survivor of his generation, of a family prominent in social and business cireles. Late in life, he, with his family, removed to Elmira, New York, to live with his daughter, wife of Capt. Frederic Barker.
