INTRODUCTORY.

-: 0: -

The labor of the Directory Publishers has been again performed, and the result is herewith given to the public.

The diligence and persistent effort which characterized the pub- lication of the former work, have been again exerted, and the Di- rectory of Charlotte, for 1879 and 1880, will, it is believed, he found in'many respects an improvement upon its predecessor. To the ordinary contents has been added a Census of Charlotte, Gazetteer of Mecklenburg County, and a Post-Office Directory of North Carolina. With the experience of several years in other and larger cities, they have endeavored to make this work a credit to the city and themselves, and trust that on examination it will be found correct and satisfactory. Hoping the character of this work is such as to gain the confidence of the people and cause them to retain their patronage for the publishers in 1881, they sign themselves;

Very respectfully.
