Overview of Columbus County Records

Columbus County was created in 1808 from Bladen and Brunswick counties.
Copies of birth and death certificates for 1916 and later can be obtained from the North Carolina Vital Records Office.
The Columbus County Register of Deeds has death records starting in 1913, birth records starting in 1913, marriage records starting in 1867, and land records starting in 1802.
The Columbus County Clerk Superior Court has court records starting in 1868 and probate records starting in 1817.
