ADVERTISERS' SPECIAL DIRECTORY
THE CITY DIRECTORY
places the city on the map and is its only representative to the world beyond our own gates.
It is the city's catalogue of business and represents the city, its citizens and institutions in every corner of these United States.
It is the logical means of publicity in adver- tising the city, its manufacturing industries, its advantages and resources.
The men who direct the affairs of progressive and up-to-date business institutions recognize the fact that the City Directory tells the story of the city's life and keeps it before the public as no other publication can or does.
Its Classified Business Section furnishes a list of all trades, professions and pursuits, constituting a special trade directory or buy- ers' guide and is the best advertising medium on earth.

GOVERNMENT
Mooresville was incorporated in 1873 and has the aldermanic form of government, consisting of a mayor and nine commissioners. The town tax rate is one of the lowest in the state. The fire department is modern and efficient. The business section is fully equipped with "white way" lighting system and the residential sections are well lighted.
PUBLIC UTILITIES
The water plant is municipally owned, the source being a stream several miles from town. The water is filtered in a modern plant, is a soft water, and the supply is adequate to meet any future need. Moores- ville is served with electricity for lighting and power by the Duke Power Co., whose distribution system covers the entire city. Telephone service is maintained by the Mooresville Telephone Co. Telegraph service through Western Union.

A complete line of towels, wash clothes, bath mats, beach sheets, as well as women and men's suiting, drapery materials, upholstering, and flannels are manufactured and finished there. Among the modern finishing methods used, sanforizing is perhaps the best known.
The Cascade Rayon Mills, a division of the Burlington Mill Cor- poration, are located just outside the city limits. Cascade Mills manu- facture beautiful crepe and taffeta materials, using the finest rayon yarns.
An up to date foundry and machine shop operates in Mooresville, manufacturing hydraulic presses and all types of textile machinery parts.

INTRODUCTION
MOORESVILLE, N. C.

names of all manufacturing, mercantile and professional interests in alphabetical order under appropriate headings. This feature constitutes an invaluable and indispensable epitome of the business interests of the community.
THE STREET AND AVENUE GUIDE contains a complete directory of streets and avenues arranged in alphabetical order; the residences and business houses are arranged numerically under the name of each street and avenue, and the names of householders, with the number of occu- pants, and business concerns are placed opposite the numbers.
THE SUPPLEMENT EDITION
After including every conceivable feature which would tend to make the directory as useful and attractive as possible, the publishers established a guaranteed home circulation for directory advertisers by issuing the Supplement Edition and delivering it to the homes of the community. Every advertisement which appears in a Miller's Directory also appears in the Supplement Edition, thus assuring each advertiser of direct results with his advertising dollar.
MUNICIPAL PUBLICITY
The directory reflects the achievements and ambitions of the city, depicting in truthful terms what it has to offer as a place of residence, as a business location, as an industrial site and as an educational center. To broadcast this information over the country, the publishers have placed copies of this issue of the directory in Directory Libraries, which are maintained in all the chief cities of the country. Here they are readily available for free public reference and serve as perpetual advertisements of Mooresville, for business men the country over realize that the city directory represents the community as it really is.
