ADVERTISERS' SPECIAL DIRECTORY

OXFORD, N. C. PREFACE

Oxford, the county seat of Granville County, is a busy little town in the heart of the old belt tobacco section. Tobacco is the principal industry, and 20,000,000 pounds of this product is sold on the Oxford market annually. The Export and Imperial To- bacco Companies maintain large re-drying plants here, and much of the tobacco bought in the nearby markets is shipped in to Oxford for re-handling. In addition to tobacco plants, Oxford has a textile mill, a hosiery mill, a body factory, and several wood-working mills. The Seaboard and Southern railroads fur- nish freight and passenger transportation. There is also a bus line and several motor express lines operating through Oxford.

The population of Oxford is 5,000; but the corporate limits are extremely narrow (being only within a radius of 1,000 yards from the court house), and a large part of the real population live outside of Oxford proper.

Oxford is a town of wide, paved streets, adorned in the res- idential sections with parks in the center and with tall oaks and elms along the sidewalks. The Oxford Woman's Club keeps the parks beautified with grass and flowers.

Oxford is situated in the Piedmont Section of North Caro- lina, with sufficient elevation above the sea to give it a climate that is pleasant and healthful all the year.

The Oxford Business Club welcomes inquiries from prospec- tive manufacturers or home-seekers, and will gladly give any in- formation.

OXFORD BUSINESS CLUB.
