PREFACE.
TN presenting this, our tenth volume of the Charlotte Directory, in which we have made a radical departure, we are of the opinion that it will be well received by our patrons. In its preparation, no expense was spared, and the general make up and completeness of the work will compare more than favorably with any publication of a like character, no matter where issued.
While this issue was generously supported by a majority of the business and professional interests, there are others, as usual, who do not support the work that should. No one likes to lend his Directory, but as a matter of courtesy do not refuse. Every business and professional man that can afford to, should subscribe to his local Directory, if for no other reason than to give it the support necessary to sustain it. Notwithstanding this, in a great many cases, parties borrow who are ten fold more able to subscribe than the party from whom they borrow.
As a matter of information, we desire to state that, eliminating the adver- tising department, each Directory that we will deliver in Charlotte cost us more than SIX DOLLARS per copy to produce-ONE GOOD REASON why you should at least subscribe and encourage good service.
With thanks to the general public for the many courtesies shown our representatives, and to our patrons for their support, we are
Respectfully yours,
THE W. H. WALSH DIRECTORY COMPANY,
Charlotte, N. C., October 1st, 1904.
W. H. WALSH, Manager.
