FRANK O'DONNELL,

Proprietor. 5

In reviewing the business industries of Asheville we find there exists a class of houses in every way prepared to compet- in the several lines they represent with other houses of greater cities throughout the South. The splendid stock, superior resources and excellent commercial stand- ing is a pride to the citizens of this city.

A house wherein the proprietor has a natural aptitude and taste for his particular line, is that conducted by Mr. Frank O'Donnell, 19 North Main, hence we find that it is particularly requisite to compile historic mention of the representative houses in each department of trade, thus demonstrating the importance of the City of Asheville, and further- more, the source of his supply.

The establishment occupied by this gentleman contains one of the largest stocks carried by any firm in a similar line in this sec ion, and we might add, embraces contributions of the "mellowest and oldest treasures for man," from the vineyards of every sunny land under every sunny sky.

The appointments and equipage of these wine rooms are in every sense first-class, having lately been beautified in the manner of attractive and expensive fixtures, and generally improved with everything appropri- ately selected to this line, which ranks it now among the foremost es- tablishments of the "Future City," making a specialty of Burk's Irish Whiskey, directly imported by Mr. O'Donnell. The high quality of this article is well suited to the keen taste of the connoisseur and all lovers of an article rich in flavor and aroma.

Mr. O'Donnell, prior to a few weeks ago, had been for some time past sojourning with his family in Europe, combining business with pleas- ure. During his absence the business was under the ye of Mr. Patrick McIntire, a competent young man of business ability, who is still with him.

Mr. O'Donnell is a native of County Donegal, Ireland, while the in- ception the of " Carolina " dates back to 1887, and since his residence in this City Mr. O'Donnell has been an active foreman of the Rescue Hook and Ladder Co. of this City, and in many roles has played the part of a prosperous business man Personally he is of a congenial temperament, and deserving in a large measure the success so liberally accorded him. " Life is a breath : Darkness bringeth death :

Keep, while we may,

Care away."
