HIRAM E. MYERS
Now Professor of Biblical Liter- ature in Duke University, the Rev. H. E. Myers was pastor of Duke Memorial Methodist Church from 1923 to 1925. A Trinity graduate, he was pastor in Graham, Manches- ter, N. H .; Salisbury, and Elizabeth City before coming to Durham. As a member of the faculty of the Duke Divinity School he has had a large share in preparing many young men for the ministry. He regularly offi- ciates in services in the University Chapel.
H. B. PORTER
The Rev. Mr. Porter was pastor at Duke Memorial during 1933-34, winning many staunch friends dur- ing that period, as well as in the four years that followed as presid- ing elder of the Durham district. Afterwards he went to Wilson where he remained for six years. He is now District Superintendent of Raleigh District, North Carolina Conference.
WALTER A. STANBURY
The Rev. Mr. Stanbury, now pas- tor of Centenary Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, was Memorial's pastor from 1933 to 1937. Like sev- eral other of our pastors, he was a Trinity graduate. He held pasto- rates in Raleigh, Tarboro, Wilson, and other cities before coming to Durham. During his ministry here he was also professor of practical theology at Duke. Moving to the Western North Carolina Conference in 1934, he served in Greensboro and Asheville before going to Win- ston-Salem.
Now District Superintendent of Gastonia District, North Caro- lina Conference.
JESSIE MARVIN ORMOND
After the appointment of Mr. Myers to the faculty of Duke Uni- versity in 1925, Professor Ormond served as supply pastor from August through November. A Trinity gradu- ate of the class of 1902, he has had a distinguished career in the fields of the ministry and religious edu- cation. A specialist in the realm of rural sociology, he has written sev- eral books on sociological subjects. In 1939 he received the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Divinity from " Randolph-Macon College.
CARLOS P. WOMACK
The Rev. Mr. Womack, now pas- tor of Jonesboro Methodist Church, was assistant pastor of Duke Me- morial from 1928 to 1930. He is a graduate of the University of Ar- kansas and the Duke Divinity School. He has served a number of pastorates in the North Carolina Conference, including Carr Church in Durham.
Reverend Thomas A. Smoot, D. D., pastor from 1904 to 1907, under whose leadership the new building at Duke and Chapel Hill streets was enterprised and partially con- structed. Dr. Smoot served several leading churches in Virginia Con- ference.
