The table of domestic exports embraces shipments North and east by water and rail and consumption by our mills. Some of the cotton forwarded North was shipped on through bills of lading foreign, but has not been so treated in the compilation of statistics at this port.

The shipments the past season to New York aggregate

43,267 bales, and forwarded inland and consumed 3,853 bales. The above shows an increase of 23,093 bales over last year.

The comparative statement of the shipment of cotton from this port for seasons, at intervals since 1856, shows further progress in our cotton traffic. Up to 1866 the shipments, as will be noted in our table, were all coast wise. In 1866, 162 bales went foreign and from that time there has been a gradual increase, the shipments of the past season aggregating 121,903 bales, or an increase when compared to the season of 1886-'87 of 12,212 bales. The same comparison as to coastwise shipments shows an increase of 22,944 bales.

BLACK WELL'S DURHAM TOBACCO,

I have been for over twenty years a con- stant smoker. I find in Blackwell's Durha that true excellence found in no other brand- uniformity ; every package being the same. I can smoke it at all times, day and night, with impunity ; it acts as a mild and pleasant stimu- ant, always quiets my nerves, and in no way disagrees with me. It is a great comforter, a pure, sweet and mild smoke.
