The State of New Hampshire

To the Inhabitants of the Town of Northfield, in the Coun- ty of Merrimack in said State, qualified to vote in Town Affairs.


You are hereby notified to meet at the Town House in said town on Tuesday, the tenth day of March next, at ten of the clock in the forenoon, to act upon the following sub- jects:


I. To choose all necessary Town Officers for the year ensuing.


2. To raise such sums of money as may be necessary to defray town charges for the ensuing year, and make appro- priation of the same.


3. To raise such sums of money as may be necessary for the repairs of roads and bridges, the ensuing year.


4. To see if the Town will vote to accept State aid for highways and appropriate money for the same.


5. To see how much money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the payment of tuition of scholars for the ensuing year.


6. To see how much money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the payment of the town debt.


7. To see if the town will vote to accept and adopt the reports of the Town Officers as printed.


8. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Select- men to secure flowage and drainage rights on the brook crossing Park Street, and construct a dam on said brook for the purpose of storing water to flush the Park Street sewer, and appropriate money therefor.


9. To see if the Town will vote to repair the stone crusher

or exchange it for a new one and appropriate money for the same.


IO. To see if the Town will vote to repair the macadam road leading from the upper iron bridge to Summer Street, and appropriate money for the same.


II. To see if the Town will vote to purchase a new road machine, and appropriate money for the same.


12. To see if the Town will vote to allow the Union Church Society to enlarge the vestry of the Union Church at Northfield Depot, or to build a vestry in the basement of the church. By request.


13. To see if the Town will vote to adopt a standard of width for the maintenance of the highways in said town. By request.


14. To see if the town will vote to instruct the Board of Health to prosecute all parties dumping any filth and waste in said Town. By request.

TO THE VOTERS AND TAXPAYERS OF THE FIRE DISTRICT:


The board of firewards submit the following report for the year ending Feb. 15, 1908.


Following is a list of fires and alarms for the year; 1 907


Feb. 26, 6.30 p. m., still alarm for chimney fire at Smith Wadleigh's, Arch St., one extinguisher used, no damage.


Mar. 24, 10.45 a. m., still alarm, chimney fire at Mrs. Muzzey's on Chestnut St., two extinguishers used, no dam. age.


Mar. 31, 6.15 p. m., chimney fire at Pillsbury's farm, no damage.


May 9, 6.20 a. m., still alarm, chimney fire at Guy Til- ton's on School St., one extinguisher used, no damage.


May 14, 11.50 a. m., house alarm for brush fire on J. E. Smith's land. 9 p. m., still alarm for supposed chimney fire at Thompson Block.


Oct. 18, 11.53 a. m., still alarm for chimney fire at house on Pleasant St., owned by Seminary, one extinguisher used, no damage.


Oct. 24, 1.40 p. m., call for fire on Tilton Island, used one extinguisher.


Nov. 1, 10.50 a. m., alarm from box 42, fire in attic chamber at Phelps house on School St. Much credit is given A. E. Barnes, a Seminary student, for cool head and quick work in using an extinguisher, of which all the Seminary buildings are equipped with. Slight damage to building and furniture.


Nov. 11, 7.45 a. m., still alarm for chimney fire at Mr. Fogg's on Summer St., one extinguisher used, no damage.


Dec. 1, 6.50 p. m., still alarm, chimney fire at Mrs. Thorpe's house, one extinguisher used, no damage.
