REPORT OF LISBON POLICE COURT.

February 1, 1907 to February 1, 1908.

-

JUSTICE AND CLERK BEN STANLEY WEBB

SPECIAL JUSTICE GEORGE W. PENNOCK

DEPUTY SHERIFF AND CHIEF OF POLICE WAYNE W. PRESBY

Inasmuch as there has been no published report of the Lisbon Police Court since its organization in 1897, a brief summary of the statistics of causes tried before the Court for the eleven years ending January 31, 1908, may be of interest. It may be noted that all cases, both civil and criminal, are in- cluded in this summary ; the number of the former, however, does not average more than two or three per year, and these are mostly dispossess proceedings. The great majority of criminal cases are prosecutions for drunkenness.

It is gratifying to note the diminished number of cases for the year just closed. These number sixteen, of which thirteen were for drunkenness, two for minor offences, and one dis- possess proceeding.
