Confession of Faith.

WE AS A CHURCH BELIEVE

1. That there is one God, who is eternal, unchangeable, all- wise, omniscient and holy.

2. That God governs both the natural and moral world.

3. That the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are true; and that they were written by holy men as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

4. That Jesus Christ is the Son of man and the Son of God; that he was in the form of God, and took upon him the form of a servant; that he is the propitiation for sin; that he is able to save to the uttermost all that come to God by him; that he will raise the dead, and judge the world.

5. That the Holy Spirit is sent by the Father and the Son; that he convinces of sin and by his influence we are born again.

6. That God created man in his own image: that by dis- obedience he lost his moral likeness; and that in consequence of his transgression, his posterity are naturally prone to sin.

7. That Jesus Christ, by his obedience and sufferings, has made an atonement for the sins of men; and that the grace of God in the atonement has abounded as much as sin has abonnded.

8. That regeneration is necessary to salvation.

9. That any and all may receive the benefit of the atonement and be justified before God, upon the condition of their faith and repentance.

10. That there are two ordinances of divine institution, Bap- tism and the Lord's Supper.

11. That there will be a resurrection of the dead, a final judge- ment of men by Jesus Christ, and that every man will be rewarded according to his works.

Thus do you believe ?

Church Covenant.

In a humble sense of your unworthiness and dependence on the free grace of God in Jesus Christ, you give up yourself to the Lord Jehovahı, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, in an everlasting covenant, not to be forgotten. And likewise you give up yourself to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Mediator of the new covenant, and Great Head of the Church, acknowledging Him as the Prophet, Priest and King of your salvation, relying on him alone for accept- ance with God.

You also yield yourself to God the Holy Ghost, as your guide, sanctifier, and comforter, trusting in him to lead you into the way of truth and holiness, in a pious belief of the great doctrines of our holy religon, contained in the sacred writings. Yon heartly em- brace them as the only rule of your faith and practice.

It is your sincere purpose and resolution, by divine grace, to discharge the duties of christian love and watchfulness. (To train up your children in the nature and admonition of the Lord, com- manding them and your households that they keep the way of the Lord.) To attend diligently upon the institutions and ordinances of the gospel. To submit to all regular and scriptural discipline in the church; to contribute all in your power to the good order and peaceableness of the administrations.

You promise to walk in wisdom towards those who are without, for the purpose of advancing the kingdom of Christ; to seek the peace and prosperity of Zion; and endeavor, as much as in you lies, to live peaceably with all.

In a word, you resolve in the strength of God, to go on and persevere in the ways of well doing, praying that you may be stead- fast in his covenant and adorn his religion in all things.

These do you promise ?

In behalf of this Church

(HERE ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH WILL RISE,) I acknowledge you to be a member of this Church in full comummion, and entitled to the same privileges with ourselves. We promise, divine strength assisting us, to discharge to you the duties of Christ- ian love, expecting the same friendly offices in return from you.
