Parents of pupils with perfect attendance records are to be highly commended for we know that they are exerting a good influence on the future performance of their children. It is with pride in these achievements of these pupils that we present the attendance Honor Roll.
Perfect attendance for Half Year 1944-1945: Alberta Cave, Mary and Richard Duncan, Arthur Durant, Thelma Glover, William Lawrence, Janice Marvell, Juanita and Robert Nartoff, Fred Nichols, Allan Orde, Barbara Pineo, Betty and Phyllis Simonds, and Frances and H. Arnold Wright.

In the field of adult education which we hear so much of these days, we have successfully presented the Cannery project and two courses in the Repair of Farm Machinery. At least one hundred twenty-five adults have participated during the past year. There are vast opportunities still untouched in this field. It is indeed enriching to local homes when people can get together and under good leadership exchange valuable techniques for living more adequately and then to put these ideas to use with adequate facilities such as are provided in the Agricultural shop and in the Cannery. As stated elsewhere the Cannery is ideally situated and equipped to warrant its use to prepare the noon lunches.
Pupil activities or extra-curricular other than athletic activities have been going through a crisis of a sort. Most pupils and parents are needing to put more hours on manual labor with a decreasing allowance of time for new activities on our part. This will probably serve to strengthen local organizations for boys and girls if the opportunities are hotly pursued. Such organizations as the band, scouts, rangers, and church groups should have their share of pupil time and include every single pupil eventually in some category.
The Juniors and Seniors have recently ably presented two one-act plays under the capable direction of Miss Rideout. Such activities serve better to promote the wel- fare of all pupils. A Hallowe'en party sponsored under pupil direction entirely, took the interests of about 200 boys and girls that evening. We shall soon have another series of plays and the usual dances.
We have nearly completed organization of a student council with members from grades 7 - 12. Sometimes it is not realized that these activities to be worthwhile must be evolutionary just as our own government was formed.
With proper guidance there should soon be evidence of intelligent pupil participation.
Our recent graduates continue to help us keep faith in them. Accomplishments of Sylvia Small '43 and Mary Worcester '44 in simultaneously aspiring to the Dean's

List at the same school is a great honor to their parents as well as the school of Hollis. In the field of battle our boys have likewise won their share of bronze stars and other awards. There are other success stories of these graduates which serve to strengthen our faith in their teachers and the parents of all these boys and girls.
Graduates of the Class of '44 were: Geraldine Denault, Bradford Duncan, Gloria Gustafson, Audrey Lund, Ralph Lund, Francis Molis, Donald Petry, Arlean Turner, Richard Walker, and Mary Worcester. Of these, Donald Petry has already made the supreme sacrifice in giving his life while in action with the U. S. Marines in his country's service.
In conclusion I would like to suggest that there be established a temporary post-war planning committee to acquaint the citizenry with the general educational prob- lems which must be faced in the near future. Perhaps such a study would be well worthwhile at this time of changing conditions.
It has been a pleasure to work with local parents, teachers and pupils in this trying year. Such splendid cooperation makes for educational progress.
Respectfully submitted, STEWART V. McCORMACK Headmaster

During the months of May, June, November and December, 1944 the following cases were reported:
15 Scarlet Fever 4
Mumps
9 Strep Throats 2 Chicken pox
. During this period practically a daily inspection of pupils in school was made and a number of throat cultures were taken.
At the beginning of school in the Fall all pupils were given a thorough physical examination by Dr. Abbott Winograd, school physician. In general the physical con- dition of the pupils is good.
The audiometer test was given in October to pupils from the second grade through high school.
The hot meal served to pupils at noon must be a convenience to parents as well as being an asset to the children's health.
The fine cooperation given by the parents and teachers in helping to carry on a successful health program is greatly appreciated.
Respectfully submitted, HELEN J. HOUSE, R. N. School Nurse
