REPORT OF SCHOOL BOARD
The school board have endeavored during the past year to improve the schools in Lyme School District, some of which have been greatly handicapped by the lack of modern text books.
It is advised by the school board that the District pur- chase new arithmetics, geographies, and histories.
It is our wish that the parents co-operate with the teachers. By so doing our schools may be made much more interesting for both pupils and teachers.
The schoolhouse in No. 9 has been replaced at a cost of $748.48.
The Chesley schoolhouse has been repaired for about $300.
The District is required by law to raise $3,414 to re- ceive state aid, which amounts to several hundred dollars.
It is suggested by the school board that this be done, as it will greatly promote the educational resources of our town.
The Board makes the following estimate for the en- suing year :
STATUTORY OBLIGATIONS
Money required by law $1,567 50
Money required for high school tuition 400 00
Money required for text books and scholars'
supplies 400 00
FOR DISTRICT MEETING
Salariés of officers
$150 00
Additional school money 1,200 00
Repairs
35
To be paid on district debt and interest 300 00 For insurance on schoolhouses 75 00
Respectfully submitted,
HENRY J. MATIVIA ) School Board
