Lisbon is fortunate in the possession of a new library build- ing at Sugar Hill. The building, complete with full equipment and furnishings, together with more than four hundred vol- umes, many of which are rare and limited editions, is the gift of Mrs. Charles Francis Richardson in memory of her hus- band.
On November 7, 1914, the Richardson Memorial library was dedicated with simple but appropriate exercises in the presence of over two hundred citizens, townspeople and friends. Since that time the attendance has reached 912. The special chil- dren's-room has been much enjoyed, and almost any day one can see from ten to fifteen happy faces seated around the tables busy with books and games. By permission from the trustees,
29
the library has been open from four until nine on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with no extra expense to the town, as Mrs. Richardson gave the fuel for the winter and I gladly gave my time.
Owing to so many books in storage, and the library being closed from Sept. 19 to Nov. 7, the circulation fines and book rentals are exceedingly small.
Respectfully submitted,
JERUSHA ELIZABETH PARKER, Librarian.
