JOSIAH HASTINGS, brother of Andrew Hastings (2), was in Chfd. in 1770. He settled near the river, in the south-west quarter of the town, on what has long been known as the "Hastings farm," and which is now owned and occupied by Thomas Sumner. His wife was Mary Hartwell. He settled in Chfd. before 1767, on the farm now owned by Hermon C. Harvey, but once owned by Marshall H. Day. Selectman 1776, '78. He d. in 1812, in his 77th year.
