Overview of New York County Records
- New York County was created in 1683 and was an original county for the state of New York. It is one of the five boroughs of New York City and has the same boundaries as Manhattan.
- The New York City Health Department has copies of birth records starting in 1910 and death records starting in 1949. The New York City Municipal Archives has copies of birth records previous to 1910 and death records previous to 1949.
