No letter will be sent from this office, to places within the United States, unless the postage is prepaid by stamps.
Stamps and stamped envelopes can be procured at the office of sale in the Post-office building, entrance at the north end of the Nassau street front, open from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M .; at the window on Nassau street, at all the Stations, and also of authorized agents in dif- ferent parts of the city.
On Letters.
The inland postage (which must be prepaid) upon single letters is 3 cents; double letters twice, and treble letters treble these rates.
Every letter or sealed parcel not exceeding half an ounce in weight is deemed a single letter, and every additional weight of half an ounce, or less, is charged with an additional single postage, prepaid by stamps.
City letters must be prepaid by stamps at the rate of two cents for each half oz .. or less, and two cents for each additional half oz., whether delivered from the office or by the carriers.

BROOKLYN AND CANARSIE, office, East New York .-- P. H. Reid. Proprietor.
BROOKLYN, CANARSIE, AND ROCKAWAY BEACH RAILROAD AND STEAMBOAT ROUTE .- During the summer, trains run between the Howard House, East New York, and Canarsie, leaving each end of the route hourly morning and evening, and half-hourly through the middle of the day. The steamboat runs between Canarsie and Rockaway Beach each way, every two hours, and, if business should warrant it, two boats will run, so as to give hourly accommodation. On Sundays, boats run hourly during fine weather. During winter, cars leave Canarsie for East New York, at 6, 8, 10, 12, 2, 4, and 6 o'clock. Returning, leave Howard House, 6.30, 8.30, 10.30, 12.30, 2.30, 4.30, and 6.30. On Sundays, during the winter, first car leaves Ca- narsie at 9 o'clock A.M .; returning, leaves East New York at 9.30. On Sundays, in fine weather, trains run at hourly intervals each way, and in stormy weather at intervals of two hours.
