This Academy, conducted by the SISTERS OF ST. JOSEPH, and ' under the patronage of Right Rev. J. Loughlin, Bishop of the Diocese, is situated six miles from New York city. Flushing is an old village, long noted for its nurseries and beautiful gardens, and lies upon an inclined plane, rising from the Bay eastward until it overlooks the surrounding country, Flushing Bay, the East River and Long Island Sound, and the Palisades on the Hudson. The Flushing and North Side Railroad runs thirty- eight trains daily between New York and Flushing, making the trip to and from the city of New York in less than half an hour, and the traveling accommodations are unsurpassed. The cars are reached by Thirty-fourth Street Ferry and James Slip.

Pupils of all denominations received; and, while the utmost care is taken in the religious instruction of the children of Catholic parents, there is no interference with the children of those of a different belief. For the sake of good discipline all are required to be present at the public exercises.

This Press con- #Ists of a Hydraulic Ram and Cylinder. of sixty or more tons pressure. Rods of Iron, Platens of Wood or Iron, with double Hydraulic Force Pumps and connections. These Pumps may be run by power or by hand, are so arranged by valves. that the Press may he run up. stopped, or lowered, at any point of its movement. The person working the Press, by the use of these Valves nas the most perfect control of the Pumps. These Valves and Pump Packings are so arranged. that they may be easily taken out, or put in without disarranging any other part of the Pump. This Hydraulic Press, arranged in the manner described, is capable of pressing. from two to three hundred thousand Fish in ten hours. Also, Hydraulic Jacks and Punches, make single and double Hydraulic Stop Valves, Relief and Check Valves, Hydraulic Pipe Couplings, Hydraulic Pipe, Curbs of Wood and Iron, Truck and Car Wheels, Axles, Patent Clutch Pulleys, Shafting. Hangers. Pullies and Gearing, Steam Pipe and Fittings. Pattern Making, Blacksmithing and Repairing, promptly attended to.
