APPENDIX-BOARD OF EDUCATION.


RULES.


1. Books will be delivered at the depository daily, from 9 till 12 o'clock.


2. Books at the above prices and Stationery gratis, are furnished to each school upon the written order of the Principal thereof, endorsed by one or more of the School Committee.


3. Returns from the principals for books so furnished are to be made at the Depository weekly and all accounts for the same are to be fully settled at the end of every month.


4. No Text Books are to be introduced into any of the Schools unless previously authorized by the Board of Education.


5. All Text Books authorised by the Board to be used in the public Schools, as well as all Copy Books and Copies for writing, shall be purchased by the principals at the Depot ; and no such articles obtain- od by them elsewhere shall be sold at the schools.

SCHOOL DISTRICTS.


The City originally constituted one school district, but as the same increased the old district as been divided and sub-divided, and there are now thirteen school districts within the City limits: viz. :


No. 1. Comprises that portion of the 4th Ward bounded by Fulton street on the west, Sand street on the north, Bridge street on the east, and Myrtle avenue ou the south.


No. 2. That portion of the 8th Ward lying south-westerly of the centre of 27th street.


No. 3. All that part of the 9th and 7th Wards contained within the following boundaries, viz : On the south by DeKalb avenue, on the west by Grand avenue, as far south as Atlantic avenue, running thence along Atlantic avenue westerly to Washington avenue, thence southerly along Washington avenue to Baltic street, thence easterly along Baltic street to the old Clove road, and thence southerly along the road to the City line, and thence along the line of the north-east- erly boundary of the City to DeKalb avenue aforesaid.


No. 4. That part of the 9th and 11th Wards bounded as follows, viz. : on the north-easterly side by the City line between Brooklyn and Williamsburgh, on the west by the Wallabout Bay and Washington avenue as far south as Myrtle avenue, thence easterly along Myrtle avenue to Grand avenue, thence southerly along Grand avenue to DeKalb avenue and easterly along DeKalb avenue to the City line.


No. 5. Being a portion of the 4th, 5th and 11th Wards, viz. : com- mencing at the corner of Sands and Bridge streets, thence southerly along Bridge street to Myrtle avenue, thence westorly along Myrtle avenue to Fulton street, thence south-easterly along Fulton street and the old road to Canton street, thence northerly along Canton street, Park avenue to Flushing avenue, thence westerly along Flushing avenue to Navy street, thence northerly along Navy street to Sands street, and thence along Sands street to the place of beginning.


No. 6. All the 10th Ward.


No. 7. Bounded by Fulton and Sands street, the Navy Yard and the East River, being the entire 2d Ward and that part of the 5th Ward not included in No. 5.

No. 9. Commencing at the corner of the turnpike and the old Port road, thence along said road to the 5th avenue, thence north-easterly along the 5th avenue to Atlantic avenue, and easterly along Atlantic avenue to Washington avenue, thence southerly along Washington avenue to Baltic street, and easterly along Baltic street to the Clove road, and southerly along the Clove road to the City line, thence along the same to the place of beginning : being a part of the 8th and 9th Wards.
