The inland postage on letters (which must be prepaid) upon single letters is 2 cents per oz. or fraction thereof.
City letters must be prepaid by stamps at the rate of 2 cents for each oz. or less, and 2 cents for each additional oz., whether delivered from the office or by the carriers.
Registered mail requires 10 cents in addition to regular postage.
Mail for Special delivery must have the ten cent Special delivery stamp in addition to regular postage.
Postage on leters to Countries in the Postal Union, including nearly all Civilized Nations is 5 cents per half ounce, Postal Cards 2 cents; Printed matter one cent for each two ounces; Samples of Merchandise one cent for each two ounces.
On Printed Matter.
Newspapers and Periodicals sent by Publish- ers or News Agents, 2 cents per pound. If sent by others 1 cent for every four ounce or fraction thereof.
All transient books and miscellaneous printed matter not exceeding four pounds in weight one ceut each 2 ounces or fraction thereof.
On Merchandise.
The postage on articles or samples of mer- chandise which by their form or nature are not liable to destroy, injure or deface other articles in the mail, or harm the person of any one in the Postal Service, or not exceed- ing four pounds in weight is one cent per ounce or fraction thereof.
