ALMS HOUSE.
The buildings occupied by this useful nnd necessary establishment, stand at Bellevue, on the banks of the East River. Its structure is of plain stone, three stories high; length 320 feet ; 50 feet wide.
COLUMBIAN COLLEGE.
This edifice stands on an elevated and niry situation, at the upper end of Park Plaec, between Broadway and the Hudson, in the near vicinity of the City Hall, and has lately gone through a thorough repair, which has added much to its beauty.
COLLEGE OF PIIYSICIANS AND SURGEONS.
The building occupied by this respectable body is situated in Barclay- Street. It is an elegant and commodious structure, and fitted up, in the interior, in a style completely adapted to the different objects embrac- ed by this society. It was not till May, 1813, that the trustees pur- chased the ground on which they afterward reared the present building.
The management of the affairs of the College is in the hands of Trustees. By the act of the legislature of April 5th, 1813, it is enacted , " that the amount of property which the said college shall or may be authorized to hold, shall never exceed in value 150,000 dollars, current

money of New York. and that the said Regents reserve to them selves the right of conferring degrees, and appointing the professors or leach- ers of the several branches of the medical science in the said college, and of filling all such vacancies as «hall or may arise among the trustees or members thereof." The Regents are also authorized, by the same act, to appoint any of the trustees professors and teachers in the college, and to alter and amend the charter when they think ft.
