St. Paul's Church was organized by Rev. Samuel Haskell at a meeting neld in the Planters Hotel in Tompkins- ville, Staten Island on March 11, 1833. A vestry was elected and the Church incorporateu with the name : "The Rector, Churchwardens and vestrymen of St Paul's Church in the town of Castleton, County of Richmond." The land was a gift from Caleb T. Ware, in a deed dated April 2, 1833. The cornerstone was laiu on July third, 1834, during the pastorate of the heverend William P. Curtiss. The Church was consecrated by 1 Bishop Benjamin T. Onderdonk on June 22, 1835.
