Rev: Vernon W. Couillard, M. A., Rector of the

- United Brethren Congregation --- or Moravian Church, at New Dorp --- deserves much of the credit for the preparation of this volume. It was during a personal genealogical search of an amateur nature, conducted with his gracious permission, that we unearthed suf- ficient genealogical data on our own disti ff lines to establish the value to all Islanders of this sequel to the records of Volumes I and II, published years Genealogieal ani Ecografico! ago in the Collections of the New York Historiend' ociety, Vol. 4. hev. Couillard, historian by nature, pointed out the practical value of records extenuing into our century, and to him alone must go the credit for the complete index, through the Moravian portion of which we were able to make partial return for the hearty co- operation of the hector and his staff in this work.

Original entries were made in as many styles and degrees of completeness as there were pistors, and we nave eulted them to some degree of style uniformity. Save for the omission of dates and parents in the later baptisms, this is otherwise certified to be an actual transcript of Volume III page by page without prejudice.

In requesting further cats or certificates from the church office, reference should be made to volume, page, and position on the page of the follo as here indicated.
