A. &. J. KEOGH, Piano Forte Manufacturers,
NOS. 257, 259 and 261 WASHINGTON STREET,
Between North and South Division Streets.
The subscribers keep constantly on hand an extensive and choice assortment of Piano Fortes, in elegant Rosewood Cases, which we warrant to be equal in tone, touch and finish, to any manufactured in this country. As a proof of the superi- ority of our instruments, the subscribers would respectfully call the attention of the public to the subjoined testimonial from Professor Gottschalk, (one of the most distinguished pianists in this country,) being one of the many they are daily re- ceiving from professors and others, assuring them of the merits of their Pianos. Persons desirous of obtaining a superior instrument are earnestly invited to give us a call. Dealers supplied on liberal terms.
A: & J. KEOGH.
TESTIMONIAL.
SARATOGA, 27th July, 1856.
I was excessively satisfied with the piano which Mr. Richard Owen, of Quebec, was kind enough to lend me for my concert here.
That instrument, of the manufacture of Messrs. A. & J. Keogh, of Buffalo, was one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, two stringed square Pianos I had over met with. The tone was full and round, without harshness, and of a remarkable evenness in all its reg- isters. As to its strength, I will merely state the fact, that it stood at my concert during two hours, without intermission, under five or six heavy fantasias, and as many small pieces, in a moist and hot atmosphere, without one single string breaking, or the instrument getting out of tune; which is more than I could say of many grand pianos, even of the most eminent makers.
The Messrs. Keogh are personally unknown to me, and this was the first instrument of theirs I had ever performed on; my opinion, therefore cannot be influenced by partiality. In recommending it, I simply respond to an artistic feeling, and a desire to do justice te manu- facturers whose popularity is so well deserved.

It occupies but little space, and may be set up in any yard, however small, without in- convenience. The machine will be found to give entire satisfaction wherever it is used, and no family should be without one.

PA OGRAPHS
AMBROTYPES, DAGUERREOTYPES.
Plain Photographs of all sizes and prices to suit the most fastidious.
Photographs executed in India Ink to equal the most finished . engraving. Photographs in India Ink, and beautifully tinted in Water Colors. Photographs painted on Canvas, either Cabinet or Life Size.
These pictures surpase any other portrait ever produced, both in point and- finish as well as in truthfulness to nature. Portraits produced by the Photographic process do away entirely with those long and tedious settings which are so much dreaded in obtaining a likeness by the old method, and securing at the same time a more perfect picture.
Persons residing at a distance, having pictures, either of living or deceased friends, can have a perfect Life-size Photograph painted in oil on canvas, by sending the picture with a descrip- tion of the person giving the general complexion, color of the eyes and hair. By the Photo- graphic process, there is no possibility of a failure in reproducing a perfect fac-simile of the original picture, no matter how small.
From my long experience in this line of portraiture, I feel confidence in saying to the public that in case of any picture failing to give satisfaction, I alone will be the loser.
The public generally suppose that a Photograph is different from the old style of oil paint- ing-this is not the case ; the " Photograph assists the artist in preserving the features," thereby rendering a failure impossible, and the picture equals. if not, ezocoda, those produced by the old method
The pictures produced at this Gallery are pronounced by conneiseurs in the art, to be supe- rior to any in this State.
