THOMAS' STREET AND AVENUE DIRECTORY

OF THE

CITY OF BUFFALO.

Entered according to act of Congress, in the year 1864, by E. A. THOMAS, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States, for the Northern District of New York.

EXPLANATION.

It will be noticed that in this Street Directory. the names of the streets are set down in alphabetical order, giving the course which they run, according as nearly as possible to the points of the compass, and enumerating all streets which cross the same in the order in which they occur. In all cases where the numbering of our streets has been perfected, the numbers on the right and left hand corners have been given, so that a person wishing to find, may, No. 887 MAIN STREET, on consulting the Street Directory, finds, that the right hand corner of Main and Mohawk is No. 379, consequently the place he seeks is only a few doors above. The imperfect numbering of our streets prevents our Directory from being as comprehensive as it might be; still, to the resident or the stranger it will be found to be useful.
