GWYNNE'S CENTRIFUGAL PUMP.
This pump has in every instance where exhibited in competition with other pumps, taken the highestawards-gold and silver wirdals, and diplomas. If has been introdue d to a great extent in Europe, Asia, and South America, Larre orders are now being filled for Persia for irrigation. The proprietors of the British Patent, during the World's Great Exhibition in London, in 1951, offered to pay :35,000 to the Mechanics' Charitable Association, if this Pump cil not excel any pump that could be brought to compete with it by hf- teen per cent, while its cost should not exceed one-third that of any plunger, piston, or rotary pump in use. The American proprietors have equal confidence, and are disposed to meet any party with any kind of pump on their own terms for a trial of resnertive advan- tages. That this is no vain boast, the following letters addressed to the inventor by some of the most respectable and extensive manu- facturing houses in the United Amies, are considered sualcientovi- denve.
OFFICE OF THE NIAGARA FALLS PAPER MILLS, } BUFFALO, January 26th, 1:53. -
Mr. J. STUART GWYNNE, New-York-Sir : We have the Pump purchased of you in operation. It gives us great pleasure to say that of all pumps we have ever used in our business, this is the only one that has worked to our satighetion. Previous to putting in this one we had four cast iron lifting Piunes, of twelve inch bore, and one rotary Pump in use, but they all did not answer the purpose. This one (your Reacting Centrifugal Pump) throws double the quantity of water, and with one-half the power to drive that they did, and never refuses to do daty. Yours,
B. BRADLEY & CO. RUSSELL, January 20th, 1653.
J. STUART GWYNNE, Esq .- Dear Sir : We take pleasure in say- ing that your Centrifugal Pump works to our entire satisfaction, and that we consider it one of the most durable and economical Pumps in use. Very respectfully yours,
Signed,
JOHN SMITH & CO .. Per F. SMITH. CAMDEN, N. J., Dec. 15th, 1852.
J. STUART GWYNNE, Esq .- Dear Sir : I reply to yours of the Bith, requesting our opinion of your Centrifugal Pump. We have now had in constant use for about three months one of your No. S Pumps, during which time it has worked to our entire existera n, threw- me an amount of water equal to l'at given by our off pumps. of which we had three double action sint inch cylinder. We draw the water 190 fort with right feet rise, and force it Ss fert high. We consider them superior to say pump we have ever seen, and will nave great pleasure in showing and recommending it to all "puur- ing such. We may add that we find a very great saving of power in driving this priap. employing a narrower belt for it than was used for each of the off oues.
Signed,
J. R GREENFIELD.

DAGUERREOTYPES, LIFE NIZE .- All attempts formerly 11 take large Pictures have not proved satisfactory, in consequence of their distorted and magnified appearance. This has been obviated by in- creasing the size of the Camera. Mr. L. has just completed one of immense size. It is the largest Camera, and the only one of its size in the world. Notwithstanding its size, several artists have pro- pounced it the most perfect instrument they ever saw,
