Minutes of the One Hundred Fifty-ninth Session

of the

Ohio Miami Conference Successor to Miami Conference

of the

United Methodist Church

Held in Germantown, Ohio - June 3 - 6, 1968 Camp Miami

OFFICIAL RECORD Published by Order of the Conference Maurice D. Gribler, Editor

We bid a farewell at this session to the Episcopal leadership of Bishop Paul M. Herrick. By action of the Council of Bishops of the United Metho- dist Church he will be assigned to the Southwestern Jurisdiction. We send our best wishes with both Bishop and Mrs. Herrick to their new area.

Bishop Herrick was born in a minister's home at Scandia, Kansas. He received his college education at Kansas City University. He is a graduate of United Theological Seminary and received an M.A. from Phillips Univer- sity. He received an honorary D.D. degree from York College and an L.L.D. from Otterbein College.

Following pastorates in his native area he assumed the leadership of Dayton First Church in 1941. During his ministry the Church relocated in Upper Dayton View in fulfillment of a long standing planned move. During his membership of Ohio Miami Conference he served as President of the Board of Christian Education and as a member of many other boards and committees.

In 1958 he was elected to the Episcopal office at the Harrisburg General Conference and assigned to the Central Area. His tenure has been marked by a warm hearted administration in which both ministers and laymen pay him affectionate respect.
