GREENVILLE DIRECTORY.
GREENVILLE.
GREENVILLE, the County seat, is beautifully located in about the center of Darke County, one of the richest and most produc- tive agricultural and stock-raising regions of the State. Our deep, black soil is practically inexhaustible, and will yield, for . decades to come, large returns for the labor of the industrious and thrifty farmers. The county is one of the largest, being twenty miles wide by thirty long, and all this large fertile terri- tory is tributary to Greenville, making it an exceptionally good trading town.
The railroad facilities of Greenville are excellent, the Pan- Handle, the Dayton & Union division of the Bee Line, and the new Cincinnati, Van Wert & Michigan. The last named rail- road will prove of great benefit to Greenville and largely increase her trade. With a population of between 5,000 and 6,000, Green- ville is growing rapidly in every material interest, and there is not a more prosperous town in the State. No town the size of it offers better educational facilities. It has two fine school build- ings, and as good teachers as liberal salaries will command. It has a telephone exchange, gas works, and a good fire department equipped with fine horses and two of the best steamers. A num- ber of manufacturing interests are carried on, among them large wagon works, machine shops, three carriage factories, one large roller-process flouring mill, two planing mills, one furniture factory, three large saw mills, two tanneries, and some minor interests. The people of the county are progressive and the pol- icy of the citizens of Greenville is a policy of encouragement and liberality toward all new-comers. Those who have capital to invest will find Greenville a desirable and convenient point for manufacturing, and the people are ready to extend all reasonable encouragement to the right kind of enterprises.

Buechly's Nursery is now two and one-half miles west of Greenville, but is to be moved one mile west of town as soon as arrangements are completed. where I expect to keep a full supply of general Nursery Stock. My aim will be to offer the best of the old varieties of fruit, with the addition, from time to time. of such new sorts as shall, after a fair trial, prove to be valuable. From the fact that I personally oversee my own grafting. planting. &c. I am enabled to warrant my trees strictly true to name. I earnestly invite the public to Inspect my stock and prices before making purchases from abroad. E. M. BUECHLY. Proprietor.
