ASTORIA CITY DIRECTORY. 7

PREFACE.

1896 .~

We take pleasure in presenting our second edition of the Astoria, Clatsop County and Vicinity Directory.

Two years ago we issued our first directory, and while it was supposed to be very complete, yet some mistakes occurred. This year, profiting by our experience of the past, we have spared no expense and taken special pains to make this work complete in every detail.

Astoria has in the past two years steadily advanced, and comparing the names with those given in our last book, we find that there is over one-fifth more, which shows a sub- stantial increase in our population .

Thanking the people of this energetic city for their pat- ronage, which has made it possible to issue this work, we remain

Yours Faithfully, J. S. DELLINGER.
