SEASIDE
The city of Seaside has an ideal climate the year round, unexcelled boating and bathing facilities, splendid hunting and fishing (both fresh and salt water), that combine to make it one of the most popular summer and winter resorts on the Pacific Coast. Located on Clatsop Beach at the junction of the Necanicum and Wahanna rivers, 118 miles west of Port- land, and is the terminus of the Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railway. Seaside has at present the brightest future of any city or resort on the Lower Columbia River. Seaside has a standing population of 2000, with as high as 12.000 during the summer months. One of the finest mu- nicipal water plants is located at Seaside, the water of which flows from mountain springs at the head of the Lewis and Clark and Beerman rivers. Although small in population, Seaside presents a metropolitan air at all times and is bust- ling with business the year round. Sev- eral large concrete buildings have been erected the past year and plans are under way for the erection of more during the winter. Seaside has, aside from the above improvements, 10 miles of pavement, an electric lighting plant, best of schools and churches. The outlook for Seaside as a commercial center is promising, as at present there are large timber tracts be- ing cruised for logging and three large logging crews are at work the year round in the vicinity. Seaside has a weekly newspaper, the Seaside Signal, saw, plan- ing mill and box factory. There is room for several more, as the timber is inex- haustible. The scenery in and around Seaside is unsurpassed anywhere and the climate is mild in winter and cool in summer. Best of telephone aand tele- graph service, modern hotels at all points on the beach, fine auto livery accommo- dations and several passenger trains both ways to and from Portland makes Sea- side the place to spend the summer months.
