PREFACE

This is the twelfth edition of our Oil City and Franklin Directory and the fourth edition of our Venango County Directory. There are within the covers of this book over 30,000 names and addresses, about the same number as would be in a city of 100,000 inhabitants. During our canvass, a correct cen- sus of the twin cities was taken and the result showed Oil City to have a popu- lation of 22,930 and Franklin (including Rocky Grove), 13,622. The street and house directory which appeared for the first time in the book of six years ago is a feature of this book and will be in all future directories issued by the Der- rick Publishing Co. That mistakes will occur in a directory is not strange, that there are so few of them is the wonder. No expense nor pains have been spared to make this the most complete and accurate Directory of the twin cities and County.

Some delay has been occasioned in the completion of this book owing to the renumbering of all houses in the City of Franklin.

In conclusion we want to thank all who have by their patronage enabled us to produce such a work.
