LaFayette's Second Visit to Chester County


Time : July 26, 1825. Place : Room at Turk's Head Inn.


NOTE :- La Fayette, accompanied by his son and secretary, was met at Chadd's Ford by committees of citizens and troops of cavalry and con- ducted over the battlefield ; then escorted to West Chester by way of Rosedale Avenue and High Street, along Market and Gay Streets, pausing in Jesse Matlack's field (now Fayette Street) for a review of the troops ; thence to the Inin, where a reception and banquet were held in honor of the Nation's Guest.
