PREFACE.

OWING to the liberal patronage ot a ge- nerous publick, and the particular encourage- ment of his friends, the subscriber has again been enabled to issue the Philadelphia Di- rectory to his fellow citizens. The fluctua- tion of trade, has made the task more diffi- cult than ever, which, together with the difficulty of procuring suitable paper, he, hope- will be a sufficient apology for the de- lav. He feels grateful for the support his former publications of this kind received, and assures the publick, that much expense has been incurred, and no pains spared to make this correct. He has, however, to apologize for the omission of several articles, which will be attended to in future publications.
