STREETS OF PHILADELPHIA.


Philadelphia is laid out as a square, streets crossing at right angles. The numbers on streets running East and West are a given hundred lo a block or square, odd numbers on North side, even on South, thus: Front 100, Second 200, Third 300, etc.


Market Street is the dividing line for streets running North and South, even numbers on West side, uneven on East, a given hundred to a block, thus : Market to Arch, 100, to Race, 200, etc.


The following are parallel to Market Street. Streets having no num. bers are either narrow or short or placed between principal avenues.
