When full justice had been done to the elaborate menu, and cigars and coffee made their appearance, were the toasts of the evening commenced, which aroused the enthusiasm of all pres- ent by the happy and well timed remarks of the speakers, all ex- pressing the sentiment that John Bull and Brother Jonathan were now, and should ever be, the closest of friends, and together lead the world to peace and unity. A full list of the toasts and speakers will be found on another page.


There were present on this occasion two members, viz., John Sartain and Henry Croskey, who celebrated the 57th anniver- sary of their membership in our Society, having both been elected on April 23d, 1840.


The large gathering separated at a late hour, feeling that the 125th anniversary had been a great success, and wishing the future of the Society to be if possible more useful in carrying on its benevolent work than in the past 125 years.


The various committees prepared a most beautiful program as a souvenir, which was distributed to all present. We wish we could give a reprint of it, but that is impossible. We can only give its contents, and describe it as best we can, as follows:
