CATHOLIC THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY.

There are but eight students now in the seminary. Ar. rangements are being made to erect a suitable building on the lot adjoining the Cathedral. At present the students reside in Smithfield near Virgin alley.
ST. PAUL'S ACADEMY
Is located at the corner of Virgin and Cherry alley. Rev. T. Mullen, Principal. Pupils, 56.
A Day School of the Common School grade is in the same building, with about 200 pupils.
ST. PAUL'S R. C. ORPHAN ASYLUM.
(As in former Directory, except as follows) Sister Isidore, Sister Servant, assisted by four other sisters.
Orphans, 30. Day scholars, 120. No boarders at present.
SISTERS OF MERCY.
Sister Mary Frances Warde, Mother Superior, with five other Choir Sisters and two Lay Sisters.
This community proposes to itself the practice of the spiritual and corporeal works of mercy. To this institution is attached a select school for Young Ladies. Residence, Penn, above Irwin alley.
A German School for Boys and Girls, is attached to Saint Philomena's Church, with about 140 pupils. Also, two others, one in Allegheny city and the other in Birmingham.
There are two Temperance Societies attached to St. Paul's and St. Patrick's churches. About 3500 have taken the pledge of the Society.

First Associate Reformed church of Allegheny, S. E. cor. Diamond, Rev. J. T. Pressly, D. D., Pastor, number of fami- lies 207; number of communicants 514. 'The Sabbath School contains 200 scholars-also, a Female Missionary Society.

The Associate Presbyterian church, corner Seventh street and Cherry alley, Rev. Robert Bruce, D. D., Pastor, numbers 250. The Sabbath School contains about 80 pupils. A Fe- male Missionary Society.
Associate Presbyterian church, Allegheny, corner of S. Com- mons and Sandusky street, 270 communicants, and a Sabbath School 150 pupils, and a Missionary Society, Rev. James Rod- gers. Pastor.
