The Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania urged each member to contribute $2 to a fund to be placed in charge of the Grand Lodge and to be used for the benefit of needy dependents of members of the various lodges now engaged in war. 126,000 members ( Masons) were in the State of Pennsylvania at this time.

By a resolution adopted on October 2, 1917, at a regular Stated Meeting, Chandler Lodge Resolved : "to co-operate with the Masonic Relief Association of the United States and Canada and to con- tribute one cent per capita thereto." The Masonic Relief Association is a non-profit organization made up of the representatives of 40 odd Grand Lodges and over 100 Masonic Relief Boards. Its purpose is to prevent imposition upon the fraternity by impostors and un- worthy members.
