OLMSTED'S
PATENT
STOVE,
MANUFACTURED BY SAMUEL LLOYD,
And Sold, Wholesale and Retail, by
JAMES E. P. DEAN,
At the Girard Buildings, 406 Market St.
PHILADELPHIA.
The objects aimed at in the construction of this Stove are-to be simple, so that it can be easily managed-to be quickly kindled-to be capable of affording a mild or intense heat, according to the weather- to preserve the air of the apartment pure and wholesome-to avoid all inconveniences from dust, and finally to be cheap, durable, and eco- nomical in the use of fuel. How far this apparatus fulfils these condi- tions, may be inferred from the following certificates and recommenda- tions.
Extract from an article published in the Franklin Journal, as the result of some experiments on Temperature, connected with the use of PROFESSOR OLMSTED'S STOVE, by J. Griscom, L. L. D.
After " registering" many interesting and important facts in reference to the Stove, he adds. " But there are two other advantages in the construction which Professor Olmsted has adopted, First, by increasing the extent of heated sur- face, so as to prevent the iron from ever becoming so hot as to loose its polish by oxidation, and thereby not only to become itself rapidly deteriorated, but also greatly to injure the quality of the air. Second, the cold air which enters the roon, and necessarily forms the lower stratum, flows towards the stove, and ascending in the open and heated cylinder of the radiator, forms a rising column of warm air, which by its diffusion produces a mild summer heat throughout the chamber, rendering unnecessary the evaporation of water to counteract the usual deleterious effects of a hot stove I found on one occasion the temperature of the air in this heated column to be 150 degrees, while at the same time the thermometer, with its bulb resting on the last joint of the stove- pipe, sunk to 110 degrees, the thermometer in the room being then 70 degrees, and outside of the house 36 degrees. Both the furnace and the radiator may be too hot to be endured by the hand, while the end of the pipe remains barely warm."
TITET
PENNSYLVANIA TRUE TO HERSELF.
CONOMY
Being the basis of future wealth and comfort, should be studied and practised by every housc-keeper, and as cconomy in fuel is one of the most important branches of house- keeping, I have made it my close study for several years past, and have at last, by dint of application and perseverance in my experiments, planned and completed a small
TING STOV
To which I would invite the attention of the public generally, as I am convinced it is one of the most simple, will consume less fuel, and do more cooking, than any other stove ever yet introduced into this or any other market. Price $15 to $30 ; also,

STOVE,
For parlors and halls, it is far preferable to a Grate, and more durable and ornamental, with an opening to see the fire. It gives a regular and pleas- ant heat, avoids the dust and ashes, and requires very little attention, for when the urn is filled with coal it supplies itself until it is burnt out ; and the small coal without the dust taken out will make heat enough for a large parlor. Any one, after one week's trial, if they do not suit, will be at lib- erty to bring them back, and receive their money. Also an assortment of other stoves. Dr. Leidy's Sarsaparilla Blood Pills.
So justly celebrated for their efficacy in purifying the Blood and other fluids of the human body,; also for their purgative properties, operating mildly and gently, or powerfully, in proportion to the doses taken, without producing any weakness or prostration of the system, or even requiring any change of diet, restraint or deviation from accustomed habits or occupation.
They are recommended in all diseases of the Skin and Bones ; Rheumatic affections ; Ulcerations ; Constitutional diseases, produced by Mercury or the Minerals, or the result of Venereal or Syphilitic affections. In short, they are adapted to all diseases of the Stomach, Liver, and Intestines, and all diseases produced by IMPURITY OF THE BLOOD, upon which depends so much the health and life of mankind.
Wholesale price, $20 00 per gross-Retail, 25 cents per box.
Each box contains thirty pills. They are put up in square boxes, around which is a black and yellow label, containing on two sides the signature of the proprietor and sole manufacturer.
Of the virtues and universal efficacy of Sarsaparilla I need not speak, as the world knows it ; combined, however, with other ingredients in the above pills, it renders them a combination superior to all other pills in existence.
Dr. Leidy's Medicated Extract of Sarsaparilla.
Being a compound fluid extract of Sarsaparilla, of greater strength, (consequently greater efficacy) than any preparation of that kind manufactured in the United States. One bottle of this preparation is suffici- ent to make one gallon of Syrup, of equal strength with any of the compound or concentrated compound syrups in existence ; costing less than two dollars per gallon, and usually sold at fifty cents to one dollar for half-pint bottles.
The receipt for making the Syrup accompanies the directions with each bottle.
The above preparation is free from all purgative ingredients, and may be used alone or in conjunction with the Sarsaparilla Pills, with the happiest effects, where a purgative may be necessary.
Wholesale price, $84 00 per gross-Retail, $1 00 per bottle.
Dr. Bechter's Pulmonary Preservative.
The above medicine is universally employed throughout Germany, and is the only popular medicine there known for Coughs. Colds, Influenzas, Catarrhs. Asthmas, Whooping Cough, Spitting of Blood, and all Affections of the Breast and Lungs, and arrest of approaching Consumption-it having been there used for more than an hundred years with unparalleled sucecss.
Wholesale price, $42 00 per gross .- Retail, 50 cents per bottle.
The proprietor's signature accompanies each bottle. Ample d rections and numerous testimonials and recommendations, from physicians and others, accompanying cach bottle.
A recommendation of great importance to the foregoing preparations is, they are prepared entirely from vegetables, warranted free from Mercury or the Minerals ; and are also the production of a practical man and physician, who knows the true nature of mediemes and their adaptation to diseases, attested by
